Burkina Faso

Fespaco, the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou ( Festival Panafricain du Cinema et de la Television de Ouagadougou ) was founded in 1969 in Burkina Faso. It is biennial week long cultural celebration and is the largest gathering of African film enthusiasts.

 

Ethiopia

Timkat Festivalis a colorful event commemorating the baptism of Christ and is the most important religious festival in the Ethiopia calendar. It is celebrated all over Ethiopia, but in Lalibela you will find the most spectacular religious festivals and photography as this is the town that is famous for the rock hewn churches.

Panafest, the Pan-African Historical Theater Festival is a cultural event that is organized every two years and participants come from around the world. The celebration is focused on the ideals of Pan Africanism and African development. The group festivities include music, dance, carnivals and a Grand Durbar of traditional African chiefs.

Fez Festival of World Sacred Music, is an internationally recognized concert of musical performances which honor the diversity of all faiths. The program incorporates a journey filled with spiritual music and is one festival that should not be missed.

Essaouira Gnaoua World Music Festival, is a mesmerizing concert that celebrates the mysterious music of the Gnaouas and takes place in Essaouira, Morocco. The event attracts a large number of festival goers and provides a rich cultural experience that is combined with a tour of Morocco.

 

Senegal

Senegal Dak’Art Festival and Senegal Dak’Art Festival + Gambia, the largest contemporary art exhibitions that takes place once every two years from the end of April until the end of May. Tunisia

International Festival of the Sahara, is an annual festival that takes place in Douz, Tunisia an oasis at the edge of the Sahara. The event celebrates the traditions of the Sahara desert with camel races, belly dancing and singing. The festival is combined with a tour of the best attractions in Tunisia.
